Uprooted tree kills one student, injures 2 others

A student was killed and two others were injured when an uprooted banyan tree fell on them in a primary school compound at Khanpur area in Samastipur district, the local BDO said.

The incident occurred at Pachhauli village when the banyan tree in the government run school premises got uprooted and hit three students, BDO Mritunjay Kumar said.

A class X student Vidyanand Kumar (18) died on the spot, while Abhishek Kumar (11) and Chandan Kumar sustained injuries.

The deceased was a student of a high school located nearby, while the injured two were from the primary school, the BDO said.
 

The two injured were admitted to hospital.

Kumar said the body was sent for post-mortem and compensation would be given to the three as per norms.
