A 21-year-old man has been arrested here for allegedly killing his mother's male friend as he was "upset" with people's taunts, police said today.

A juvenile has also been apprehended in connection with the case.

On July 22, the police were informed about a foul smell emanating from a house in northeast Delhi's Bhajanpura, a senior police official said.

The body of Madan Mohan (61) was found inside a bed box in a room. A case was registered and investigation was taken up, said A K Singla, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northeast Delhi).

During investigation it was found that locals had seen two persons near Mohan's house. One of them was identified as Pawan alias Prem Nath Bhardwaj (21), who is the son of Mohan's maid, the DCP said.

It was found that Pawan and his juvenile accomplice had fled to Mathura in Uttar Pradesh after killing Mohan, he said.

A team went to Mathura but could not trace the accused there, he said, adding Pawan was nabbed from Khajoori Chowk in Delhi yesterday.

During interrogation, Pawan said he was not happy with Mohan's acquaintance with his mother and wanted to teach him a lesson, Singla said.

He went to Mohan's house on July 20 along with the juvenile and strangulated Mohan with a chunni (stole), he added.

Both the accused have been apprehended and the stole also recovered, he said.
