Upsurge in demand lifts chana futures by 0.65%

Chana prices went up by 0.65 per cent to Rs 6,190 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators indulged in created fresh positions, taking positive cues from spot market on pick up in demand.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in October rose by Rs 40, or 0.65 per cent, to Rs 6,190 per quintal, with an open interest of 25,290 lots.

Similarly, the commodity for delivery in September was trading higher by Rs 37, or 0.60 per cent, to Rs 6,206 per quintal in 10,270 lots.

Market analysts attributed the rise in chana futures to widening of positions by participants following robust demand in physical market.
 

Restricted supplies from producing regions also supported the uptrend, they said.
