Mentha oil prices were up by 0.43 per cent to Rs 1,047.80 per kg in futures trade today as participants built up fresh positions amid pick-up in demand in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in January went up by Rs 4.50, or 0.43 per cent, to Rs 1,047.80 per kg in a business turnover of 117 lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in December was trading higher by Rs 3.60, or 0.35 per cent, to Rs 1,030 per kg in a business turnover of 25 lots.

Marketmen said, fresh positions created by speculators, triggered by uptick in demand from consuming industries in the spot markets against restricted supplies from Chandausi, led to the rise in mentha oil prices in futures trade.
