Zinc prices went up by 0.53 per cent to Rs 207.55 per kg in futures trading today as speculators created fresh positions, taking positive cues from spot market on upsurge in demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in November rose by Rs 1.10, or 0.53 per cent, to Rs 207.55 per kg in a business turnover of 9,706 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in December traded higher by Re 1, or 0.49 per cent, to Rs 206.75 per kg in 384 lots.

Market analysts attributed the rise in zinc futures to fresh positions built up by traders due to pick-up in demand from consuming industries in the physical market.
