Cardamom prices shot up by 1.11 per cent, or Rs 11.80, to Rs 1,065.80 per kg in futures trading today as participants built up fresh positions.

Further, tight supplies from the major producing regions too supported the uptrend in cardamom prices.

In futures trading at the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in January went up by Rs 11.80, or 1.11 per cent, to Rs 1,065.80 per kg in a business turnover of 12 lots.

Likewise, the spice for delivery in February traded higher by Rs 6.60, or 0.62 per cent, to Rs 1,078 per kg with a trading volume of 3 lots.

Analysts said, fresh positions created by traders due to pick-up in demand in the spot market against restricted arrivals from producing regions, mainly pushed up cardamom prices at futures trade.
