Amid pick up in domestic as well as exports demand in the spot market against restricted supplies from producing regions, cardamom prices were up by 0.38 per cent to Rs 1,500 per kg in futures trading today as speculators created fresh positions.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in March rose by Rs 5.70, or 0.38 per cent, to Rs 1,500 per kg, in a business turnover of 81 lots.

Likewise, the spice for delivery in February was higher by Rs 5.20, or 0.36 per cent, to Rs 1,463 per kg in 60 lots.

Analysts said, fresh positions built up by participants due to pick up in demand in the spot market against tight stocks position on fall in supplies from producing regions, mainly led to the rise in cardamom prices at futures trade.
