Amid pick up in demand in the domestic spot market against restricted supplies from producing belts, cardamom prices shot up by 0.75 per cent to Rs 1,082 per kg in futures trading today as participants built up fresh positions.

At Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in current month went up by Rs 8.10, or 0.75 per cent to Rs 1,082 per kg in business turnover of 10 lots.

Likewise, the spice for delivery in November traded higher by Rs 6.90, or 0.63 per cent to Rs 1,105.10 per kg with trading volume of 23 lots.

Analysts said fresh positions created by traders due to pick up in demand in the spot market against restricted arrivals from producing regions, mainly pushed up cardamom prices at futures trade.
