Chana prices went up by 1.25 per cent to Rs 3,714 per quintal in futures market today as participants raised bets amid rising demand from dal mills in the spot market.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in March shot up by Rs 46, or 1.25 per cent, to Rs 3,714 per quintal with an open interest of 63,460 lots.

Similarly, the commodity for delivery in April contracts was trading higher by Rs 40, or 1.09 per cent, to Rs 3,705 per quintal in 59,960 lots.

Analysts attributed the rise in chana futures prices to fresh positions created by traders after upsurge in demand from dal mills in the physical market against restricted supplies from producing regions.
