Amid upsurge in demand at domestic spot market and restricted arrivals from producing regions, mentha oil prices climbed 1.08 per cent to Rs 1,038.50 per kg in futures trading today as speculators created fresh positions.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in February rose by Rs 11.10, or 1.08 per cent to Rs 1,038.50 per kg in business turnover of 308 lots.

Likewise, the oil for delivery in March contracts traded higher by Rs 10.10, or 0.98 per cent to Rs 1,043.50 per kg in 110 lots.

Analysts attributed the rise in mentha oil prices at futures trade to building up of fresh positions, tracking a firm trend at the spot markets on rising demand.
