Mentha oil prices were up by 0.62 per cent at Rs 1,048.90 per kg in futures market today as speculators created fresh positions amid pick up in demand at domestic spot market against restricted arrivals from producing belts.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in March rose by Rs 6.50, or 0.62 per cent to Rs 1,048.90 per kg in business turnover of 340 lots.

On similar lines, the oil for delivery in April contracts was trading higher by Rs 5.20, or 0.50 per cent, to Rs 1,050.20 per kg in 20 lots.

Analysts said fresh positions built up by speculators, driven by pick-up in demand from consuming industries in the spot markets against restricted supplies from Chandausi, led to the rise in mentha oil prices in futures trade.
