Nickel prices were up 0.24 per cent at Rs 809.70 per kg in futures trade today as participants widened bets, driven by pick up in demand in the domestic spot market.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, nickel for delivery in January went up by Rs 1.90, or 0.24 per cent, to Rs 809.70 per kg in a business turnover of 823 lots.
Metal for delivery in February also rose Rs 1.70, or 0.21 per cent, to Rs 814.20 per kg, in a turnover of 44 lots.
Analysts attributed rise in prices to increasing of positions by traders following upsurge in demand from alloy-makers in the spot market.
