Uptick in demand lifts nickel futures by 0.71%

Amid pick up in demand from consuming industries at the domestic spot markets, nickel prices traded higher by 0.71 per cent to Rs 624.70 per kg in futures trade today as participants widened positions.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, nickel for delivery in June rose by Rs 4.40 or 0.71 per cent to Rs 624.70 per kg in business turnover of 14,058 lots.

On similar lines, the metal for delivery in July contracts gained Rs 4.10 or 0.65 per cent to Rs 631 per kg in 730 lots.

Analysts said pick up in demand from alloy-makers in the spot market mainly led to the rise in nickel prices at futures trade.
