Urad, its dal remain up on rising demand, tight supply

In restricted activity, urad and its dal prices surged by another Rs 500 per quintal at the wholesale pulses market today on persistent buying by stockists, driven by tight supplies on restricted arrivals from producing belts.

However, other pulses after moving in a narrow range in scattered deals and settled at last levels.

Traders said apart from rising demand from retailers, tight stocks position in the market following restricted arrivals from producing regions, attributed persistent rise in urad and its dal prices.

In the national capital, urad and its dal chilka local shot up by Rs 500 each to Rs 9,100-10,200 and Rs 10,200-10,400 per quintal respectively. Urad dal best quality and dhoya also traded higher by a similar margin to Rs 10,300-10,900 and Rs 10,700-11,000 per quintal respectively.

Masoor small Rs 6,000-6,800, bold Rs 6,000-6,800, Dal Masoor local Rs 7,200-7,300, best quality Rs 7,300-7,400, Malka local Rs 8,100-8,450, best Rs 8,200-8,500, Moth Rs 5,500-5,800, Arhar Rs 9,850-10,000, Dal Arhar Dara Rs 11,400-11,500.

Gram Rs 4,800-5,650, Gram dal (local) Rs 5,250-5,450, best quality Rs 5,350-5,650, Besan (35 kg), Shakti Bhog Rs 2,230, Rajdhani Rs 2,230, Rajma Chitra Rs 4,900-6,300, Kabuli Gram small Rs 4,700-7,000, Dabra Rs 2,700-2,800, Imported Rs 4,700-5,100, Lobia Rs 5,000-5,200, Peas white Rs 2,800-2,825 and green Rs 2,800-2,900.
