Urad, its dal remain weak on low demand

Urad and its dal remained weak for the second day and prices moved down by Rs 200 per quintal at the wholesale pulses market today on sluggish demand from retailers against sufficient stocks position.

However, other pulses moved in a narrow range in limited deals and settled around the previous levels.

Traders said muted demand from retailers against adequate stocks position mainly kept urad and its dal prices down.

In the national capital, urad and its dal chilka declined further by Rs 200 each to Rs 7,300-8,900 and Rs 7,800-7,900 per quintal, respectively. Urad dal best quality and dhoya followed suit and traded lower by a similar margin to Rs 7,900-8,400 and Rs 8,300-8,600 per quintal.
