Haryana government today conducted raids on fertiliser godowns in Kaithal district suspected of illegally stocking urea following complaints.

The officials raided godowns located on Peoda Road, Model Town and Shergarh Road.

An FIR was registered against a dealer for selling fertiliser without license, Kaithal Deputy Commissioner K M Pandurang said in a statement.

The district administration said it will take stern action against hoarders and black-marketers and ensure availability of fertilisers to the farmers.

Pandurang assured that artificial scarcity of fertilisers would not be tolerated and defaulters would not be spared.

Farmers in Haryana as well as Punjab have been complaining of "shortage" of urea for the last several days.
