With wheat growers complaining of fertiliser shortage, the Haryana government today said farmers will be distributed urea through Kisan Credit Cards from the next harvesting season.

Those framers who do not have KCC would be issued pass-books to record supplies given to them.

It was stated by Haryana Agriculture Minister O P Dhankar here today.

Dhankar said this year additional 49,000 tonnes of urea was distributed to farmers in October, November and December as compared to last year.

While 6.15 lakh tonnes of urea was distributed last year, 6.64 lakh tonnes of urea has been distributed this year, he said adding that there was no shortage of urea in the state.

Dhankar said since shortage of urea was reported in the border districts, supplies have been stepped up there. For example, in Jind district which borders Punjab, one lakh more bags of urea were distributed this year, he said.
