Vilasrao's sons Amit, Riteish and Dheeraj and brother Diliprao Deshmukh handed over the urn to MPCC president Manikrao Thakre at Babhalgaon.

Thakre reached Mumbai in the afternoon and the ashes were brought to state Congress HQ Tilak Bhawan in central Mumbai from the airport in a vehicle decorated with flowers. A condolence resolution would be adopted at a meeting of MPCC and MRCC functionaries at Tilak Bhawan tomorrow.

Urns containing Vilasrao's ashes would be kept at all district Congress offices in the state on August 29 to enable people to pay their last respects to the senior Congress leader.

Vilasrao passed away at a Chennai hospital on August 14 and was cremated at Babhalgaon the next day. His cremation was attended by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi and lakhs of admirers. Today the Deshmukh family held "god jevan" at Babhalgaon in his memory.
