The US military planes dropped containers of meals and water to thousands of religious minorities trapped on Iraq's Sinjar mountain after fleeing the rampaging militants of the Islamic State.
This airdrop was conducted by one C-17 and two C-130 cargo aircraft, which together dropped a total of 72 bundles of supplies, the US Central Command said yesterday.
The C-17 dropped 40 container delivery system bundles of fresh drinking water totaling 3,804 gallons.

So far, US military aircraft have delivered more than 52,000 meals and more than 10,600 gallons of fresh drinking water, providing much-needed aid to the displaced Yazidis, who urgently require emergency assistance.
