US Ambassador to India calls on TN Governor K Rosaiah

On his maiden visit to Chennai, US Ambassador to India Richard R Verma called on Tamil Nadu Governor K Rosaiah today.

During his brief interaction with Rosaiah, he said the recent visit of US President Barack Obama as a special invitee to witness the Republic Day celebrations had further strengthened Indo-US bilateral relations.

United States is India's largest investment partner and it looks forward to 'Make in India' and to explore more avenues in business and promotion of trade, commerce and tourism in India especially in Tamil Nadu, he said.

Verma said some of the major items imported from India to the United States was IT services, textiles, machinery, gems, diamonds, chemicals, iron, steel, coffee.
 

Rosaiah said Tamil Nadu was front-ranking state and was known for its industrial friendly policies.

He said Tamil Nadu Government's Global Investor's Meet scheduled to be held in May 2015 aims to bring more investors from across the globe to start their ventures in the state.

Tamil Nadu has high investment potential and is an information technology, automobile and pharmaceutical hub, he said.
