A software professional employed with a US-based firm was today arrested here in a dowry related case registered against him five years ago.

Crime Investigation Department (CID) officials nabbed P Lakshmi Rama Krishna Mohan from outside the US Consulate office at Begumpet here, police said.

Mohan, a native of Hyderabad, currently resides in the US, where he works at an MNC software firm in New Jersey.

He was wanted in a criminal case registered against him under the Dowry Prohibition Act and IPC Section 498-A (husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty) by his wife in 2009, police said.

On Central Crime Station's request through CID and Interpol Wing of CBI, a blue corner notice, an international alert to law-enforcement agencies to obtain information about a person's activities, was issued against the accused.

Acting on credible information, a CID team kept a watch at the consulate office and apprehended Mohan when he arrived there, Additional DGP (CID) T Krishna Prasad said in a statement.
