US envoy, several others join 'Walks for Life'

Cancer survivor, activists and sympathisers, including US Ambassador Richard Verma and his wife Pinky Verma, today came out in the national capital for the 'Walk for Life', a programme organised to create awareness about cancer.

Sangeeta Jaitley, wife of Finance Minister Arun Jaitley flagged off the walk here, which saw the students, prominent citizens and people from all sections of the society.

"She was joined by the celebrities and personalities from public life," CanSupport, an NGO, said in a press statement issued today.

Actress' Manisha Koirala and Aditi Rao Hydari, wife of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Gursharan Kaur and former US Ambassador David Mulford and his wife Jeannie Mulford also participate in the eighth annual 'Walk for Life' organised by the NGO, which provides home care and palliative care to the patients with cancer, four days after World Cancer Day.
 

Koirala also led the special 'Lap of Honour' for cancer survivors, saying "cancer if detected early is curable. There is definitely a life after cancer and a more meaningful one at that. We have to put and end to the silence around the disease".
