Both the parties have put their maximum efforts during the last 15 days to maximise their chances.
For Congress, Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna and his family members were leading the campaign. Former UP Congress chief Rita Bahuguna Joshi was camped in the state and participated in many meetings along with party's candidate and her nephew Saket Bahuguna.
On the other hand, BJP is confident of victory and is banking on the rising prices of essential commodities.
"People will vent out their anger against Congress' decision to hike the prices of diesel and petrol by defeating the party candidate," state BJP chief Bishan Singh Chufal said.
Saket Bahuguna has been fielded against BJP's Raj Lakshmi Shah, the daughter-in-law of the late Maharaja Manvendra Shah who represented the constituency in the Lok Sabha for a record eight times.
The Tehri seat fell vacant after Vijay Bahuguna resigned from it following his victory from Sitarganj Assembly constituency.
The bypoll to the seat will be held on October 10.
