A group of American security experts have inspected facilities at the AIIMS ahead of US President Barack Obama's visit here beginning Sunday.

A five-member team of US Security experts visited the AIIMS Trauma Centre and the main AIIMS last week. The team had visited the hospital last month also, sources said.

Health Ministry officials said adequate facilities have been put in place including specialised 'trauma and disaster wards' at the premier hospital.

"AIIMS have been designated for any treatment of VVIPs and VIPs while hospitals like RML, GB Pant, Safdarjung, Army RR Hospital and Lok Nayak hospital have been put on alert for any eventuality," said a Health Ministry official.

Around 90 ambulances and team of doctors would also be stationed around Rajpath during Republic Day celebrations on Monday. Ambulances equipped with modern medical gadgetry, will be kept on standby for the exclusive use of VVIPS/VIPS.

These hospitals have been asked to be on high alert by the Health Ministry as part of health facility arrangement by the Ministry.
