"With regard to Pakistan, any high-level communication between India and Pakistan that can help them address the various issues among them is something that we would support," State Department spokesperson Victoria Nuland told reporters.
Nuland was responding to questions on a possible visit of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to Pakistan later this year.
The dates of the trip have not been announced so far.
