: A man was arrested here today on charges of constantly harassing his wife for more dowry and police are on the lookout for his four brothers, who also intimidated her.
Police said that Ajitha lodged a complaint against her husband Ranganathan and his family alleging that they were torturing her to bring more money as dowry.
She said her parents had alreday given Rs two lakh and 20 sovereign of jewellery as dowry when she got married. However her husband and brothers started harassing her soon after to bring more jewellery.
As she refused to do so, the brothers started abusing her. Ranganathan went one step further and sought a divorce.
Unable to bear this torture, she filed a complaint.
