Leader of the Opposition Ajay Bhatt (BJP) said that Joshi is a native of Uttarakhand and his selection as the new Admiral has made the state proud.
He also urged the other members of the House to congratulate Admiral Joshi.
Bhatt received support from members of the opposition as well as treasury benches on the issue.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Indira Hridayesh also congratulated Admiral Joshi.
