Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat today paid tributes to the Kargil martyrs on the war's anniversary by placing a wreath at the 'Shaheed memorial' here.
Saluting the brave soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice, the chief minister said it was due to their bravery that the frontiers of the country were safe.
"The Kargil war was fought in adverse circumstances, but showing indomitable courage, our soldiers routed the enemy," he said.
Rawat said apart from the bravery of the Indian Army, Kargil war would also be remembered for the strong political will shown by the then BJP government headed by prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
