Although power supply, which went off at around 1:30 PM, was partially restored in the capital after three hours, most of the other towns and villages of the state continued to reel under blackout, a government official said.
The breakdown of power affected industrial production and train services were also badly affected, with most of the trains running late.
Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) officials later claimed to have restored electricity supply in most of the places.
