Concerned over low position of Dehradun in a national survey on cleanliness, Governor K K Paul today sought the support of public and private sector organisations, including ONGC and BHEL, for making Uttarakhand a clean and beautiful state.

At a meeting held with senior functionaries of ONGC, BHEL and SBI, Paul asked them to adopt some areas of Dehradun and Haridwar in the first phase and launch a cleanliness drive there, a Raj Bhawan press release said.

In a recent survey carried out by the Centre, Dehradun stood 26th in a list of 29 state capitals and a poor 360th in a list of 476 cities and towns with a population of more than one lakh throughout the country.
