Union Minister and BJP leader General (retd) V K Singh today visited the family of a man who is in jail in connection with a case of violence here, evoking criticism from Samajwadi Party.

The Ghaziabad MP met family members of Karan Singh at their house in Giri Market Colony here.

Karan Singh has been lodged in jail in connection with the violence that erupted here on August 18 after a 60-year-old man had allegedly attempted to rape a minor girl.

The Samajwadi Party, meanwhile, attacked the Minister for the visit.

"Singh's secret meeting with the family of violence accused raises a question on his fairness. He should have thought before visiting the family," said SP leader A K Pandit in a statement.
