Shares of multi-brand retail chain V-Mart surged nearly 6 per cent on the bourses today after the firm reported an increase of 81.21 per cent in standalone net profit at Rs 27.20 crore for the third quarter ended December 31, 2016.
V-Mart shares jumped 5.55 per cent to settle at Rs 538.30 on BSE. Intra-day, it touched a high of Rs 564.90.
On NSE, the stock ended at Rs 540.50, up 5.71 from the previous close.

In terms of volume, 0.96 lakh shares changed hands on BSE and over 4 lakh shares were traded on NSE.
The company today posted a standalone net profit at Rs 27.20 crore for the third quarter ended December 31, 2016.
It had reported a net profit of Rs 15.01 crore in October-December quarter in the year-ago period.
V-Mart's total income from operation was up 23.28 per cent to Rs 326.89 crore during the quarter under review as against Rs 265.14 crore in the corresponding period last fiscal.
Total expenses were up 17.91 per cent to Rs 284.28 crore as against Rs 241.09 crore.
