V O Chidambaranar port trust today said it has set a new record by handling 14,590 tonnes of wheat imported on August 5, surpassing the previous record of 12,000 tonnes on July 10 last year.
The Port, in a release, said it had also created a new record by handling 22,055 tonnes of Copper slagon August 9 this year, surpassing the previous record of 10,815 tonnes on July 8, 2007.
Another record was in handling 15,735 tonnes of sulphur on August 18 this year, surpassing the previous record of 12,157 tonnes on September 7, 2011, it said.
S Anantha Chandra Bose, Port Trust chairman, thanked the stakeholders, officers and employees for helping achieve these records.
