Congress legislator Mauvin Godinho today told the State Legislative Assembly that one of the shorelines in his constituency has turned into a "drugs beach" and demanded adequate illumination there to prevent it from becoming a bay for drug addicts.
"Vaddem beach (in Dabolim) has become a drug beach. There is no proper illumination on this beach because of which the youths are seen doing drugs there," Godinho said during the ongoing assembly session.
Godinho demanded that the State tourism department should install high-mast lamps on the beach so that it does not turn into a place for consumption of drugs.
State tourism minister Dilip Parulekar responding to a question assured to visit the beach this weekend and expedite the process of illuminating the beach.
