The district returning officer has rejected eight nominations during the scrutiny for Vadodara Lok Sabha seat where BJP's PM nominee Narendra Modi and senior Congress leader Madhusudan Mistry are locked in a direct fight.

"Eight out of 17 nominations filed so far have been rejected," District Collector cum Returning Officer Vinod Rao told PTI.

Thursday (April 10) was the last date for scrutiny of applications and Saturday (April 12) is the last date for withdrawal of nominations.

City unit BJP president Bharat Danger had raised objections to nominations filed by AAP candidate Sunil Kulkarni and Narendra Babulal Modi, an Independent, alleging they had "surpassed" several facts.

However, the returning officer rejected the objections today upholding the nominations by Kulkarni and Modi.

Vadodara is going to polls on April 30.
