Vaidehi shocks Sai Samhita to enter final

Wild card Vaidehi Chaudari knocked out top-seeded Sai Samhita Chamarthi in three sets to enter the final of the USD 3000 FinIQATT Asian Ranking Women's Tennis Championships on Saturday.

Gujarat's Vaidehi rallied from a set down to shock India no. 9 Sai Samhita of Tamil Nadu 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 in a 3 hour, 15 minute battle.

Giant-killer Vaidehi secured a decisive break against Sai Samhita in the 10th game of the third set to set up the victory at the Merocity courts here.

She will meet Soha Sadiq of Karnataka in the final. Soha got past state rival Praibha Narayan Prasad 6-2, 5-7, 7-5 in the other semi final lasting 3 hours and 23 minutes.

 

Twenty-year-old Soha from Bengaluru fought back from 1-5 in the third set to get past Prathiba.

The results: Semi-finals: Vaidehi Chaudhari bt Sai Samhitha Chamarthi 5-7, 6-3, 6-4; Soha Sadiq bt Prathiba Narayan Prasad 6-2, 5-7, 7-5.
