MDMK leader Vaiko and several members of the Cauvery Protection Council were today arrested for attempting to picket the Central excise and customs office here demanding steps to stop Karnataka Government from building dams across the river at Rasimanal and Meghadoot.
Vaiko presided over the picketing agitation which also opposed the methane gas project in the Cauvery Delta area, police said.
Similar picketing programmes were held in Ariyalur, Tiruchirappalli, Pudukottai, Perambalur and Namakkal districts, they said.
