MDMK chief Vaiko today alleged

that the Centre was "betraying" Tamils by showing "indulgence" to Sri Lanka.

Talking to reporters here he said instead of bringing Sri Lanka to the book by forcing it to face trial for its war crimes and atrocities against Tamils, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had invited Rajapaksa for his swearing-in ceremony and continued the defence ties.

Earlier he appeared in a sessions court in conenction with a sedition case filed against him.

Though the MDMK is an ally of BJP, Vaiko said he would not desist from criticising the Modi government whenever it committed any mistake.

The sedition case was registered against him by the DMK government in for his alleged "objectionable and provocative speech" on October 21, 2008 at an indoor meeting.

The case was adjourned to December 11.
