Condemning UPA Government for abstaining during the voting on US-sponsored resolution against Sri Lanka in the UN Human Rights Council, MDMK leader Vaiko, an ally of NDA, wondered whether it would have adopted a smiliar approach had the victims been Keralites.

"Would the Government have decided to abstain if what happened to Tamils in Sri lanka happened to Keralites ?" he asked addressing an election campaign meeting in his Lok Sabha constituency here.

Vaiko said he wanted to go to Parliament to speak about the Sri lankan Tamils' problem. "I will work for the welfare of the Tamils and Tamil community whether I am MP or not."

He had already spoken about the Tamils issue in Delhi, Mumbai and even roadside meetings.

"But it should definitely be raised in the Parliament," said Vaiko, who has been strident in his demand for action against Sri Lanka for alleged war crimes against Tamils there.

Referring to Chief Minister Jayalalithaa's stance seeking votes for making her party AIADMK a part of next government at the Centre, he said she had so far not explained as to how her party would form part of the Central Government.

Vaiko said he was confident that NDA would get more than 320 seats and form the government.
