The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) has lodged an FIR against some people for allegedly sending fake letters of a union minister recommending preferential treatment in the issuing of helicopter tickets and 'darshan' at the shrine.

"The CEO lodged a police complaint. An FIR has been registered at the Police Station, Katra," the official added.

The protocol wing of the board had received letters on the letter head of a union minister bearing his signatures recommending that priorities be granted for helicopter tickets and darshan (praying in front of the deity) .

The CEO observed that these letters were mailed to the from private email ids and not from the official id of the Ministry.

The CEO checked with the particular ministry who denied having sent the letters, the official added.

Sensing it was a case of forgery and cheating, an FIR was lodged at the Katra police station, the officer said.
