Vaishno Devi board to manufacture incense sticks from floral waste

Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVSB) is set to make incense sticks from discarded temple flowers, officials said on Friday.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in this regard was signed between Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) - Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (CIMAP), Lucknow and the shrine board at Katra, they said.

CSIR-CIMAP will provide free consultancy, technical support and guidance to the board for making incense sticks from flowers. A small facility will be set up for manufacturing the incense sticks, the officials said.

The MoU was signed by Ramesh Kumar, Chief Executive Officer SMVSB and Bhaskar Jyoti Deuri, Controller of Administration, CSIR-CIMAP, Lucknow, they said.
