Addressing the 73rd conclave of Indian Public schools' Conference (IPSC), Seth referred to the December 16 gang-rape and brutal assault of the 23-year-old girl and described it as "shameful and unfortunate".
"Following the shameful and unfortunate incident of rape on December 16 in Delhi, there is need for greater emphasis on ethics and value-based education in society," Seth said.
"National discourse has rightly centered the need to develop greatest respect for girls and women in our society. This soul searching should leave us to focus on how we can strengthen ethical behaviour in society and behaviour is which is driven through ethical leadership," he said.
Chairperson of the IPSC, Suniti Sharma, stressed on the importance of educating leaders so that the right values can be inculcated in students.
