Vampires, 'The Hunger Games' rule Teen Choice Awards 2012

The "Twilight" saga was given the evening's Ultimate Choice award, bringing the series total to more than 40 Teen Choice Awards, reported MTV online.

Stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner accepted on the movie's behalf.

"The Hunger Games" star Josh Hutcherson was named Choice Movie Actor: Sci-Fi-Fantasy, and was quite proud of his new trophy.

"The Hunger Games" was also named Choice Book and Choice Movie: Sci-Fi-Fantasy, and Hutcherson and co-star Jennifer Lawrence were given Choice Lip Lock honours.

Hit TV show 'The Vampire Diaries' and its cast picked up a handful of awards, including Choice TV Show Sci-Fi-Fantasy and Choice TV Actor Sci-Fi-Fantasy for Ian Somerholder, who also won for Choice Hottie: Male.

 

The show was hosted by Demi Lovato and 'Glee' star Kevin McHale and also saw performances by Bieber, Carly Rae Jepsen, Flo Rida and No Doubt, who gave their first televised performance of their new single 'Settle Down'.

Awards were voted on by fans, who cast a total of 134 million votes.

Country star Taylor Swift was the biggest individual winner, landing five trophies and taking her Teen Choice Awards haul to 20, making her the most honoured female at the event.

Bieber was named Choice Male Artist. The teen sensation's girlfriend Selena Gomez was awarded Choice Music Group along with her band, Selena Gomez & the Scene. Gomez accepted on behalf of her bandmates.

Choice Comedian winner Ellen DeGeneres poked fun at the awards show's surfboard theme while picking up her award, her fourth.
