Singh raised the issue during zero-hour in the assembly and said the hostel was ransacked and the certificates of the dalit students were burnt.
He demanded that the state government order a thorough probe and provide compensation to the affected students.
Ruling JD(U) MLA Chhedi Paswan described the matter as serious and demanded that the state government take action against those responsible.
Intervening, Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi said the ransacking of the hostel in Ara on the day the Ranvir Sena supremo Brahmeshwar Singh Mukhiya was killed was a "tragic incident".
The government had made available funds to Bhojpur District Welfare officer for repair of the hostel, he said.
