Vanessa Kirby loved playing an elusive character in "Mission: Impossible - Fallout" as it was quite a departure from her role of Princess Margaret on period drama "The Crown" and given a chance, she says she would love to make a comeback to the action franchise.

Kirby's character in the film is known as White Widow, an influential British socialite with a hidden agenda.

"I saw her as this elusive, ambiguous character. I always want to play people that are unusual in a way, unexpected. I felt that about Margaret and I thought I got really lucky with her.

"I wanted to do something unconventional with her (White Widow). She's not on screen that much but I wanted her to be a sort of enigmatic presence. You are not quite sure whose side she is or what she is going to play any moment," the actor told PTI in an interview.

"Fallout" leaves enough room for Kirby's character to make a comeback in the next film and the 31-year-old actor is more than willing.

"Yeah, there's a lot more to White Widow that hasn't been explored. On 'The Crown', I absolutely loved coming back because when you develop a character, you get to explore it deeply. You want to go further with things that you find exciting, I love that idea."

The British actor revealed that her character was supposed to be introduced with a song, something that she found "really scary", but it was changed later much to her relief.

Kirby also felt encouraged to take on the project because she felt the franchise has always had great female characters.

"What struck me about seeing these movies together was that whether you're a man or a woman, it's your energy that's really unique. Two people are not necessarily the same. Sometimes you find in movies, there might be generic forms of a person.

"But from, Lea Seydoux, Kristin Scott Thomas to Vanessa Redgrave, everybody had such different energies and (they were) so uniquely a character. They are really character-driven pieces. So that felt really good, Rebecca's (Ferguson) done loads of action in the last one and in this one. I think it is needed now more than ever."

A Paramount Pictures movie, "Mission: Impossible - Fallout" will be exclusively distributed in India by Viacom18 Motion Pictures.

Also starring Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Sean Harris, Michelle Monaghan and Alec Baldwin, the film releases this Friday.
