Vans to help women in distress flagged off by Delhi CM

Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today flagged off four mobile vans which were introduced to help women in distress.

The mobile vans, introduced by Delhi Commission of Women, would be run by an NGO.

The decision to operate the service was taken following the December 16 gangrape.

Officials said the vans can be called by dialling toll free number 1800-11-9292.

Speaking on the occasion, Dikshit appreciated the initiative taken by the DCW.

She said her government would not hesitate in providing funds for more such vans.

DCW chairperson Barkha Singh said the people from the NGO has been provided adequate training to run the service.
