Varsities asked to hold slew of events on Int'l Yoga Day

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has asked colleges and varsities in the country to organise a series of programmes, including competitions, screening of movies and distribution of literature, to mark the International Yoga Day on June 21.

In a letter to all Universities, the UGC conveyed "It is desired that on June 21, Yoga Practitioners may give a demonstration to the faculty and students in the morning".

It also suggested that a competition should be held among the students on practices of Yoga and the best participants should be duly felicitated with prizes.

It has also said that films on Yoga be screened and posters be put up exhibiting Yoga postures to inculcate awareness among the students and faculty.
 

In addition, the UGC has suggested that an online Essay Competition on Yoga be organized as well as promotional literature on Yoga and its benefits be distributed among the students and faculty members.
