As lakhs of people stretched themselves across the country to mark the second International Yoga Day today, students and teachers in various universities also joined them in learning various postures.
Jawaharlal Nehru University organised a workshop during which instructors trained the participants in various asanas. A lecture series was held on the themes 'Bhartiya Parampara Mein Yog', 'Yoga as Way of Life', 'Yoga for Harmony and Peace', 'Yoga: Philosophy' and 'Yoga for Mental and Physical health' by certain scholars.
The university also released CDs and print materials containing instructions for Yoga.

"A special yoga session was also organised for the underprivileged children in collaboration with an NGO at the university's sports centre," a Jamia spokesperson said.
Similarly, NSS and NCC students participated in the yoga training session conducted at Delhi University.
Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) began the day with a lecture on various applications of Yoga.
"Yogacharya Sudhir Kumar Jain briefed the participants about the importance of yoga in daily life and demonstrated various asanas which can be practiced to relieve stress, anxiety, anger, frozen shoulder and other ailments," a statement said.
In a letter to all central universities last week, the University Grants Commission (UGC) had sought the "personal indulgence" of Vice Chancellors in celebrating yoga day in their varsities as well as affiliated bodies.
