Varun Beverages posts Dec quarter loss at Rs 72 cr

PepsiCo's bottler Varun Beverages today reported narrowing of its consolidated net loss at Rs 72.12 crore for the quarter ended December 2017.

The company had posted a net loss of Rs 111.65 crore during the October-December quarter of the previous fiscal, Varun Beverages said in a regulatory filing.

Total income during the quarter under review stood at Rs 545 crore. It was Rs 489.52 crore in the year-ago period.

"We have focused on initiatives where we can drive the outcome and improve operating parameters to create a more efficient and sustainable business," Varun Beverages Ltd Chairman Ravi Jaipuria said.

The company's stock was listed on November 8, 2016, due to which the result presented for the quarter ended December 31, 2016 have not been subject to limited review or audit.
 

"However, the management has exercised necessary due diligence to ensure that the standalone and consolidated financial results provide a true and fair view of its affairs," Varun Beverages said.

For the year ended December 31, 2017, the company reported a consolidated net profit at Rs 214 crore.

The company's stock was trading 2.16 per cent down at Rs 652.20 apiece on BSE.
