BJP MP Varun Gandhi today appealed to the Uttar Pradesh government to help the people facing hardships because of erosion caused by rivers as he batted for a politics of "mutual relations".

"I appeal to the UP government to take care of these people who face immense hardships because of erosion as they too are voters, farmers and above all humans who needs help so that they can start afresh," Gandhi said, while addressing a Kisan Panchayat in Bhagwanpur area of Mehsi tehsil on the second day of his visit.

"I want the politics of interests to end and a new politics of mutual relations to start and am trying for it," he said, adding that politics of hope cannot be achieved by whirlwind tours and visits.

The Sultanpur MP, who was here to meet farmers hit by erosion and floods and to distribute cheques to them, said, so far he has visited nine districts in the state to help redress their problems.

Stating that only 100 industrialist families hold 30 per cent wealth of the country and 27 per cent people do not get two square meals, Gandhi said he wanted everyone to dream big for their children.
